5-4-3-2-1 poem By Bailey Gee

This week I am featuring one of my favorite modern day poets. She wrote this poem with the prompt mental health and art as a coping skill.

5-4-3-2-1

Breathe

Stop

Smell the roses

Blow the candles

At least,

That's what they tell me

They say it helps relieve anxiety

I don't know who THEY are

5-4-3-2-1

They tell me to use my coping skills

Art

Is the biggest one of all

Drawings dancing on the page

Colours forming like a rainbow

To create something beautiful

Art

It calms me

I smell the roses

Blow the candles

And breathe a big sigh

Of contentment

Because Art is what saved me

From reality
