My journey of sobriety
For the sake of this story we call my child's father Jim. Jim began cheating on me since I no longer drank and did drugs. So, I kicked him out of my apartment. I would spend two more months dealing the toxic abuse before o had to move away with our son.
Not sure how to start this blog post. So, I just going to jump into it. I am going to talk about my sobriety journey.

I am currently 4 years and 20 days clean from alcohol. I started drinking at 15 to numb the pain of the trauma I experienced a few years earlier. I am a rape survivor. At 13 I had a suicide attempt and I had five more before age 17.
I stopped drinking for two years and then I turned 18 got in toxic relationship to only start again. At 20 I met my child's father who was a narcissistic abusive person. We would drink he get mad and hit me. I black out one time during one of these episodes to which he then had me Baker acted.
At 21 on April 1 I found out I was pregnant with my son so I decided to go cold Turkey and sober up. The withdrawals were a hell but It needed to be done. This is when I turned to my art more as a healthy coping skill. Working on coloring pages when I was anxious or couldn't sleep.

This is a story with a happy ending because I began to date a old friend from high school. He stepped up to be my son's father and we got married almost a year ago now.
Art saved me in the darkest times and I hope you find the strength to quit drinking. If need someone to talk to here the hotline number: Disclaimer I not a therapist I am simply someone sharing their journey in Hope's to inspire someone else.
